Botox®/ Dysport / Jeuveau IN NAGS HEAD, NC
Botox®/ Dysport / Jeuveau
Botox is the perfect non-surgical way to treat signs of aging in the upper face area and is often used as a preventative anti-aging treatment. Dysport and Jeuveau are similar products made by other companies that work in the same manner as Botox Injections. We provide all three treatments.
BOTOX may be right for you if:
- You look in the mirror and feel like those forehead creases are getting deeper.
- Lines or furrows appear between your eyebrows. People continually ask if you are angry or upset.
- Those 'crow's feet' around your eyes make you look older.
BOTOX / DYSPORT / JEUVEAU PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Before your treatment, it’s best if you avoid taking blood thinning medications such as Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), Aspirin, or naproxen (Aleve) for at least 5 days. Additionally, it’s wise to avoid these types of medications for 3 days after your treatment to reduce your chances of bruising. If you’re currently taking prescription blood thinning medication, it’s important to inform your doctor, but you should never stop taking your prescription medication unless instructed to do so. The day before your treatment, try to avoid consuming alcohol or taking Vitamin E, as this can also increase the risk of bruising.
To minimize bruising, we advise avoiding alcohol and Vitamin E intake a day before the treatment. For optimal results and to allow any bruising to heal, schedule the treatment at least two weeks before a significant event like a wedding or reunion. It is also recommended to have a hearty meal before the procedure to prevent lightheadedness.
BOTOX / DYSPORT / JEUVEAU POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
You may notice small areas of redness and/or small elevated areas at the injection sites immediately after your treatment. These are temporary and will resolve quickly, usually within 15 minutes. We typically apply Arnica gel to the areas immediately after injection, which helps resolve the redness even faster. You may gently apply additional Arnica or ice packs to the area, but please avoid rubbing or pressing on the areas for the first 24 hours.
- Refrain from any heavy exercise on the day of your treatment.
- Avoid lying down for a minimum of 4 hours after your treatment.
- Once the pinpoint bleeding has stopped, you can proceed to apply makeup.
FAQs
How Does Botox Work?
Botox Injections are a cosmetic treatment that involves injecting a substance to temporarily reduce the muscle contractions responsible for forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and bunny lines. Repeated use of the same facial muscles to make the same expressions can lead to the formation of deep wrinkles. Botox injections work in a few days to relax the facial muscles that you use most often. Over several months, the skin above the wrinkle will gradually loosen, which will soften and improve the wrinkle’s appearance.
What Are the Differences Between Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau?
Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau are made and marketed by three different companies. They have a very similar, but not identical, chemical structure. There may be slight differences in their onset of action, spread of product, and duration of action that can be addressed during your full-face assessment. At Outer Banks Dermatology, we believe it is beneficial to provide a variety of choices for our patients and to involve them in the decision-making process, guided by our many years of experience with multiple products.
What Happens During My Consultation for Botox?
DURING YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION, OUR SKILLED MEDICAL STAFF (MD OR DNP) WILL PERFORM A FULL FACE ASSESSMENT AND WILL REVIEW YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY.
She will examine your facial skin and analyze the expression lines that are worrying you. The injections can usually be given in the same appointment, depending on your medications, what you have planned for the rest of the day, and how much time you have. (We schedule 30 minutes for a New Patient Botox Consultation.)
If you have one or more of the following situations, Botox might not be right for you:
- Muscular or nerve diseases such as multiple sclerosis
- Severe allergies
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (absolute contraindications)
- Air travel planned within 24 hours
- Facial massage planned within 24 hours
How is a Botox/dysport/jeuveau Treatment Done?
AT OUTER BANKS DERMATOLOGY, OUR INJECTIONS ARE ALWAYS PERFORMED BY OUR FULLY TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED MEDICAL STAFF, RENEE A GLOVER, MD, AND JOYCE S. SMITH, DNP-NPC.
Botox Injections are a simple and quick procedure. The injection itself should take no more than 10 minutes. When receiving this medication, there is no need for anesthesia or time off from work. The medication will be injected into the targeted muscle using small, fine hypodermic needles. You may experience a pinching sensation or slight discomfort during the injection, but it should quickly fade. After the injections are finished, it is advised that you refrain from rubbing the area for at least 12 hours.
When Can I See My Final Results?
The results of Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau usually take between 3 and 7 days to become apparent. The exact time needed will vary from patient to patient. Please note that it will take up to 2 weeks from the time of treatment to achieve the complete result. It is advisable to book your treatment at least 2 weeks before a significant occasion to ensure that the results are fully visible and any bruising has enough time to heal.
